Call for Poets & Performers

United We Sock is an interdisciplinary performance that includes spoken word poetry. The performers will be emphasizing solidarity and unity by performing excerpts of their poems to groups of people sequentially, ultimately joining a big choir of poetry.

The performance will take place at The Andrew Freedman Home, and abandoned mansion in the Bronx now opened to artists through No Longer Empty.

Performers are required to attend one of two rehearsals plus the performance on May 5th. Both performance and rehearsal will happen at the Andrew Freedman Home:

Rehearsal dates (one of two is required):

  • Thursday, May 3rd from 4:30 to 7pm
  • Friday, May 4th from 4:30 to 7:00pm

  • Saturday, May 5th from 5- 6pm. Performers are called to arrive at 4:30pm.

There is no monetary compensation. However, approximately  2,500 people attended the art opening last April 4that the Home and many attend The Home regularly so there is great opportunity for networking, exposure, and promotion.
